Our Roasters:

Despite the myriad of different roasting techniques that exist, they all share common fundamentals of coffee roasting. There are countless ways to roast coffee, from traditional oven roasting to popcorn poppers but we feel that the commercially manufactured home coffee roasters produce the most consistent, flavour enhancing roasts. We take great care in sourcing and testing our selected roasters to ensure that you are getting a top quality product while also ensuring good value for your dollar. We are currently offering 2 Roasters: the iRoast2 and the Fresh Roast Plus 8. These roasters are fully automated and take care of the entire roasting and cooling process. They operated using fluid-bed technology – where a “fluid bed” of forced heated air continually agitates and roasts the beans. The result is a rapid, consistent (uniform colour) roast and the roasters are very compact and affordable compared to other styles of roasters (eg. drum roasters). Please note that these roasters use a high velocity fan, so there will be noise and the generation of some smoke as the roast progresses. Please take care to use adequate ventilation – open window, oven fan, fireplace flue etc. and follow manufacture’s safety instructions carefully.

Having trouble deciding between the iRoast2 and the Fresh Roast? The primary differences between them are batch size and ease of control. The iRoast2 roasts about twice the amount of coffee (5 oz) per roast compared to the Fresh Roast (2.25 oz.). The iRoast2 also allows for fully customizable roast profiles so it might be considered for the more advance roaster that wants more control of the roast – that being said, it does have preset roast profiles that function very well. The Fresh Roast is very simple to use making it the perfect roaster for the novice or someone who does not want so many variables to consider.
